Green Food for the World's Children
Earthrise spirulina is often donated to humanitarian projects around the world.
These contributions stimulate the research our society needs to promote a
sustainable, ecological, and socially responsible approach to nutrition for
people worldwide.
This tiny green plant has been a source of food for some cultures for centuries.
It has been consumed by millions of people of all ages in the U.S. and 40 countries for
over 15 years. Spirulina is 60% all-vegetable protein, easy-to-digest, a unique source of
antioxidant bilin, with the highest food concentration of beta carotene, iron, and the rare
gamma linolenic acid (GLA). Its dark green color comes from the combination of the phytonutrients
carotene, chlorophyll and phycocyanin. It is also a source of polysaccharides and sulfoglycolipids.
Malnutrition: Hospital Principal, Dakar, Senegal
Because more support from agencies like the United Nations is needed
to provide spirulina to malnourished people, Earthrise supports nutrition
research. This study in Senegal began in 1995 with pre-school children
suffering from malnutrition will confirm spirulina's remarkable benefits
for children all over the world.
Already, the UN. World Health Organization (WHO) has confirmed: "For WHO,
spirulina represents an interesting food for multiple reasons, rich in iron
and protein, and is able to be administered to children without any risk.
We at WHO consider it a very suitable food."

Green Food for the World's Children
Benefits of one tablespoon a day: Spirulina is an excellent food for
the rapid recovery from malnutrition and related diseases.
Clinical treatments with children have shown health benefits
in Mexico (1973), Romania (1984), Togo (1986), China (1987),
Zaire (1990), Ukraine and Belarus (1990-94) and India (1991-92).

Appropriate technology farming in developing world villages
Over the past decade, Earthrise and Earthrise Farms sponsored
spirulina farms in villages in India (1985-86), Peru (1987-88)
and Togo (1989-90). These projects were designed
by Dr. Ripley D. Fox and the non-profit organization ACMA
of France. Dr. Fox is the inventor of the Integrated Village
Health and Energy System, a design that won the prestigious 1987
European Award for Appropriate Environmental Technology, sponsored
by the EEC and the UN Environmental Program.
Today, following this pioneering research, spirulina farms are
blossoming in China, India, Vietnam and many other countries.
